The Pacer for Teams system allows admins to invite challenge participants to a Pacer for Teams Organization (P4T org). This is the private virtual space where challenges take place. All participants download the Pacer app on an Android or iOS device, join the P4T org, and create a Pacer account.
Key Points
-
The invite methods (org code, invite URL, QR code) are created when you register a P4T organization and are always accessible in the admin platform's Invite menu.
-
Invite methods are invitations to a P4T org, not a specific challenge or team.
-
Challenges by default are mandatory: all participants and teams in the org are enrolled. Admins can make challenges optional with voluntary challenges.
-
Your org's Invite menu includes an auto-generated Invite/Join instruction guide with all of your links and codes.
Invite Methods
1. Invitation Link/QR Scan Code + P4T Org Code Entry
2. P4T Org Code Entry
You can access all invitation methods by clicking the Invite Participants button in the bottom left corner of the Admin platform.
1. P4T Org Invitation Link/QR Code + Org Code Entry
Admins can download and share the auto-generated invite guide PDF, which includes the invite link, QR code, org code, and step-by-step instructions.
The first page of the guide displays the link, the QR code, and the org code. Participants should access the link or code on their smartphone to begin the invite process. Both methods launch a website that guides participants to download Pacer and join the challenge's P4T org.
The invite link and QR code can be copied and downloaded separately. Share with participants by any means necessary. Click the Copy Link button and embed it wherever you'd like.
The invite QR code can be viewed and downloaded as well.
Participant Invite Link App Experience
The following screenshots are what participants see after tapping the invite link or scanning the QR code on their smartphones.
If a participant is a new Pacer user, the app requires them to create an individual Pacer account. They must choose a login method: email address or an Apple, Facebook, or Google account. The app will also ask for personal information to set up optional training programs (ex., height, weight). Participants can skip these questions if they do not want to share them.
If a participant has an existing Pacer account, they can tap the Log In button in the top right corner of the screen.
If you have already created teams in the org, Pacer will ask the participant to choose a team. Teams are listed in alphabetical order. Once they confirm and join a team, they cannot change to a different team.
If no existing teams exist, a user will join the org, and everyone will be on the same team.
The participant has now successfully joined the org! They can access any current or future challenges you have created and the Feed if enabled. Users can also see their most recent raw data (no challenge rules applied) in the Data Center tab is enabled.
If there are no current or future challenges, the Feed will be the default tab users see when they view the org.
2. Org Code Manual Entry
A second method is to have participants download Pacer in the Apple and Google app stores independently and manually enter the Org Code at the Pacer app's launch screen or on the Pacer home screen. All join sequences in the above method (terms of service, Pacer account creation, team selection) are identical.
The invite link and QR code should assist each participant in joining the org with a few taps and without an org code entry because the code is embedded in them. If Pacer runs into a system security firewall, the app will request the user to enter the org code.
Your org code is always visible in the Admin platform's Overview screen's top left corner. You can also view/change it in the org Settings menu.
QR Code Entry App Experience
When participants launch Pacer for the first time, they can tap the Enter challenge code button and enter the org code.
Pacer Home Screen Access
If a participant already has Pacer or missed access on the Pacer launch screen, they can tap the search button on the home screen and enter the code there.
Visit & share the P4T challenge participant guides with participants as needed.
Please contact the Pacer for Teams support team if you are having any Pacer app invite issues, or have special participant invitation needs.
