Group/Club notifications (for example: club announcements, challenge updates, comments/likes, invites) can stop arriving for three main reasons:
- They’re turned off inside Pacer (Message Center settings)
- Your phone has blocked Pacer notifications at the system level
- Your device is suppressing delivery (Focus / Do Not Disturb, or Android battery restrictions)
Menu names can vary slightly by app version, but the checklist below covers the common failure points.
1) Make Sure Group/Club Notifications Are Enabled in Pacer
A. Turn on “Message Notifications” (this is where club/group alerts usually live)
- Open Pacer
- Tap the Message Center icon (speech bubble) on the Home screen
- Tap the gear icon (Message Center settings)
- Turn ON the notification types related to Clubs / Groups / Challenges / Social
- Tap Save (important)
B. Check “Reminders” (only if you’re missing scheduled reminders too)
Pacer separates Reminders vs Message Notifications. If you’re missing things like daily goal reminders, check:
- Me → Settings → Reminders & Pop-ups
If you only care about Club/Group notifications: focus on Message Center settings first.
2) Check iPhone Notification Settings (iOS)
A. Allow notifications for Pacer
- Open Settings → Notifications
- Find and tap Pacer
- Turn ON Allow Notifications
- Enable where you want them to appear (Lock Screen / Notification Center / Banners), plus Sounds if needed
If you previously tapped “Don’t Allow,” this is the #1 fix.
B. Focus / Do Not Disturb can silently block Club/Group notifications
If you use Focus modes (Sleep / Work / Do Not Disturb):
- Go to Settings → Focus
- Open the Focus mode you’re using
- Under Allowed Notifications, make sure Pacer is allowed (or turn off that Focus temporarily to test)
3) Check Android Notification Settings (Android)
A. Allow notifications for Pacer (system-level)
- Open Settings → Notifications (or Apps → Pacer → Notifications)
- Make sure notifications are ON for Pacer
B. Check notification “channels” (very common on Android)
On many Android phones, apps have multiple notification categories (channels). Even if “Pacer notifications” are ON, a specific channel like Social / Community / Clubs / Challenges might be OFF.
- In Pacer → Notifications (system settings), review the list and enable the channels you want.
C. Battery restrictions can delay or stop delivery on some devices
If notifications arrive only when you open Pacer, your phone may be restricting background activity.
Suggested settings to check:
- Battery Saver / Power Saving: turn OFF for testing
- App battery: set Pacer to Unrestricted / Don’t optimize
- Background data: ensure background data is allowed (if your phone offers this toggle)
(Exact paths vary by manufacturer—Samsung / Xiaomi / Huawei / OPPO / vivo can be especially aggressive.)
4) Quick Sanity Checks (Often Overlooked)
- You’re logged into the correct Pacer account (club notifications won’t appear if you’re logged out or using a different account)
- You actually joined the Club/Group (some clubs require approval; pending members may not receive all alerts)
- App is updated (old versions can miss newer notification types)
5) If It Still Doesn’t Work: “Reset” Steps
Try these in order (stop once fixed):
- Toggle Pacer notifications OFF → ON in phone settings (iOS/Android)
- In Pacer, toggle relevant Message Center notifications OFF → ON and Save
- Restart the phone
- Reinstall Pacer (last resort; only if you know your login method)
