The Pacer community is a place where users from all around the world can come together and help each other achieve their health goals. In an effort to ensure that the Pacer community remains one of the internet's most positive and supportive spaces, we've provided this document to help all of our users understand the spirit and values of our community.
This document is not an exhaustive list of rules and regulations, but rather a statement of principles that we expect all community members to uphold. We reserve the right to revise this document as necessary.
Core Values
We Are Here for Our Health
Every Pacer's story is different, and everyone's goals are their own. But we all share a common desire for a more active, healthier lifestyle.
We Support Each Other
Everyone needs help in reaching their goals. We are here to lift each other up.
We Respect and Take Care of the Community
The community is only as good as we make it. Therefore, we respect each other at all times, and we take care to make sure that the content we create is relevant, on-topic, and high quality.
We Compete Fairly
The purpose of competition is to improve ourselves and have fun. We respect the rules and the spirit of competition. We do the right thing.
Essential Etiquette
When participating in the Pacer community, please consider the guidelines outlined below.
Stay on topic.
We are all here to live a healthier lifestyle. Any content you create and share should be relevant to your personal health journey, or to helping other users achieve their health goals.
Fitspo, Thinspo, or other images that promote unrealistic or unhealthy body ideals are NOT appropriate topics for the Pacer community. On the other hand, you are free to show off your own health or fitness achievements as long as you keep in line with the rest of the guidelines below.
Be polite.
The internet can be a nasty place, but Pacer should not be. Always treat other members in a respectful and civil manner. Do not call other users out, post screenshots of other users' profiles or content, or engage in public attacks against other users.
Be aware of the global nature of the Pacer community.
Pacers come from just about every country and culture on the planet. Please do your best to respect the cultures and norms of other users, and leave any political and culture-war issues at the door. Likewise, be gracious and give the benefit of the doubt to other users as much as possible.
Keep it suitable for a general audience.
Pacers also come from all walks of life generationally, culturally, politically, and geographically. Part of respecting that means always being conscientious about whether the content you post is suitable for a broad audience. As a general rule, if what you post would not be considered "safe for work" or suitable for a PG-rated movie, then it is not suitable for Pacer either.
Quality and authenticity are more important than quantity.
Try to make everything you publish as useful, interesting, and relevant as possible to your followers and the community at large.
Do not try to game the rules.
Competitions are for fun and motivation. Spend your effort on improving your scores by being more active and creating quality content, and not by finding loopholes in the competition rules.
Be a good steward.
Don't pollute the community with low quality or spammy content. Only publish routes that you think other users will enjoy using and include as much descriptive information as possible. Only post notes that other users will really want to read. And only post original content (if you post content to which you do not own the rights, it may be removed without any warning).
No Tolerance Prohibitions
As long as you keep in mind the values and spirit of the community outlined above, you will probably never need to worry about running afoul of community moderators.
That said, there is some behavior that will not be tolerated at all within the Pacer community. We reserve the right to remove content that violates the rules listed below with no warning. Furthermore, in egregious cases, we reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these rules with no warning. This list is not comprehensive and may be updated as needed.

Moderation and Reporting
Pacer's community is moderated by a very small number of administrators. We do not review every piece of content as it is posted, and we rely on community members to help us identify problems.
If you see an account or piece of content that you feel violates our standards, please help us by reporting it within the app or by contacting our support (support@mypacer.com) with screenshots of the issue*. We try to review every report as quickly as possible; however, each report does need to be reviewed by an actual human being and may take some time to resolve.
*Please note, abuse of the report function creates significant problems for the entire community, as all reports need to be reviewed manually. If moderators have to waste time reviewing false reports, it delays our ability to respond to real problems quickly. Therefore, abusing the Report function is one of the surest ways to get your account suspended. Please only use the Report feature in good faith.
Moderator Action
In general, as long as you respect the values and etiquette laid forth in this document, your account will not be subject to moderator action. However, if we decide that an account's behavior is particularly egregious, endangers the physical safety of other community members, or violates the law, we reserve the right at our sole discretion to take action against the offending account in order to protect the safety of the community.
Moderators may take action by removing problematic content, suspending offending accounts, or removing accounts entirely from our system. In some cases accounts may also be automatically suspended by the system--pending moderator review--if suspicious behavior is detected.
If a user's account is suspended, that user will still be allowed to use the tracking tools of the Pacer app. However, all social privileges will be revoked. A suspended user account will not be able to post, chat, comment, like, or join groups and competitions. Suspensions are at the sole discretion of Pacer administrators and need not be preceded by any warning.
In extreme cases, we may remove offending accounts. Removed accounts will have all of their content removed from Pacer's community and will not be be able to log in again or use any of Pacer's features. Account removal is at the sole discretion of Pacer administrators and need not be preceded by any warning. If an account has been removed and the owner of that account is discovered to be creating new accounts, we will take immediate action against the new accounts as well.
