If you’re not getting reminders, alerts, or push notifications from Pacer, the cause is usually one of these:
- Notifications are disabled at the OS level
- A Focus / Do Not Disturb / Mode is silencing alerts
- Notifications are being delivered in a summary (iOS)
- Your phone is restricting background activity (especially on Android)
- You’re on Android 13+ and notification permission was never granted (opt-in model)
Use the checklist below in order—most users fix it within 2–3 minutes.
0) Confirm the reminder is enabled inside Pacer
Before changing phone settings, verify the feature itself is on.
In Pacer → Settings → Notifications / Reminders (menu names may vary):
- Turn on the specific reminder (Daily Goal, Streak, Challenge, etc.)
- If there’s a schedule/time selector, confirm the time and timezone are correct
(If you’re only missing one type of reminder, it’s often an in-app toggle or notification channel issue, not a system-wide block.)
1) Check system notification permission for Pacer
iPhone / iPad (iOS)
- Open Settings → Notifications
- Find Pacer
- Turn Allow Notifications ON
- Enable at least one delivery style (Lock Screen / Notification Center / Banners) and confirm Sounds if needed
Android
- Open Settings → Notifications
- Find Pacer and enable notifications (and relevant notification categories/channels)
- If you’re on Android 13+, ensure you granted the app’s notification permission (Android 13 introduced opt-in notifications)
2) Make sure Focus / Do Not Disturb / Modes aren’t blocking alerts
iOS (Focus / Do Not Disturb)
If Focus is enabled, it may silence Pacer.
- Go to Settings → Focus
- Open the active Focus and allow notifications from Pacer (or disable the Focus temporarily)
Android (Modes / Do Not Disturb)
- Go to Settings → Modes / Do Not Disturb
- Temporarily disable the mode, or add Pacer as an allowed app in that mode
3) iOS only: Check Notification Summary / Summarize Notifications
On iOS, notifications can be intentionally batched and delivered later.
- Open Settings → Notifications
- Check Scheduled Summary / Summarize Notifications
- Ensure Pacer is not included in a summary (or turn summaries off for Pacer)
4) Android only: Remove battery/background restrictions (very common)
Many Android devices delay or block notifications if background work is restricted (Doze / App Standby).
Do this:
- Open Settings → Apps → Pacer → Battery
- Set battery usage to Unrestricted (wording varies by brand)
- Turn off system Battery Saver / Power Saving for testing
If your device has “unused apps” management, it can also stop apps from running or sending notifications—make sure Pacer isn’t treated as unused.
5) Refresh your notification connection (quick reset)
If everything looks enabled but nothing arrives:
iOS
- Restart the phone (or force restart if needed).
- Then open Pacer once to re-register notification settings.
Android
- Restart the phone
- Then open Pacer once and re-check notification channels/categories.
6) Last resort
If notifications still don’t work after completing the checklist:
- Update your OS (iOS/Android) and update Pacer to the latest version
- Reinstall Pacer (this forces the system permission prompts to reappear)
