If you don’t want other people to see your step totals, activity, or GPS routes in Pacer, you’ll typically do this in three places:
- Your Profile visibility (who can see your profile/steps/league info)
- GPS activity privacy (who can see your routes + location details)
- Groups/Clubs privacy (who can find/see your group activity)
Note: Some competitive features (like League status) can’t be “fully hidden” from everyone if your profile is public, but you can restrict who can view your profile.
1) Make Your Profile Private (Hide steps from non-followers)
Pacer lets you control who can view your Profile page, which is where people typically see your step totals and related status. By default, your profile may be visible to everyone, but you can restrict it to followers.
Steps (iOS & Android)
- Open Pacer
- Tap your Profile icon (top-left) to open the Profile menu
- Go to Settings
- Open Privacy Settings
- Set Profile visibility to Follower
What this does
- Only your followers can view your profile details.
- People who are not followers will need to send a follow request (depending on your configuration).
2) Control who follows you (and remove unwanted viewers)
If your profile is set to Follower, the next step is making sure only the right people are followers.
Recommended actions
- Review follower requests and only approve people you trust.
- Remove followers you don’t want seeing your profile.
- Block/report users if needed (best practice for repeated unwanted requests).
(Exact button labels can vary by app version, but these options are typically available from the user’s profile page or the followers list.)
3) Hide GPS routes and location details (Activity privacy)
If your concern is people seeing where you walked/ran, you’ll want GPS activity privacy controls. Pacer states you can control privacy for GPS-tracked activities, including keeping routes private, sharing only with certain friends, or hiding sensitive location details.
Best practice setup
- When you save or share a GPS-tracked activity, look for a Privacy / Visibility option (commonly: Private / Friends / Public).
- If available, choose:
- Private (recommended for most users), or
- Friends / Specific friends (if you want limited sharing)
- If you live somewhere sensitive, use options that hide exact location when available.
4) Keep groups/clubs private (hide group activity from search)
If your steps/activity are visible through a Group/Club, you should set the group to Private. Pacer’s own guidance explains private groups aren’t searchable and limit visibility of posts/members to invited users.
Steps (Group Admin)
- Go to Groups / Clubs
- Open your group → Manage / Edit
- Set Group visibility to Private
- Invite only the people you want inside
5) Important limitation: hiding League status
Pacer notes that League status is visible on your Profile page and cannot be completely hidden from all users, but restricting Profile visibility (e.g., to Follower) controls who can access that information.
Quick checklist (recommended for maximum privacy)
✅ Profile visibility = Follower
✅ Remove/deny unwanted followers
✅ GPS activity visibility = Private (or limited sharing)
✅ Groups/Clubs = Private
