Important clarification: Deleting/uninstalling an app does not cancel its App Store subscription. Your subscription is managed by Apple and stays active until you cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings.
What “Active” means (and why uninstalling doesn’t change it)
If App Store shows your Pacer subscription as Active, it means the subscription is still set to renew automatically (or it’s still within a current paid/trial period). Uninstalling only removes the app from your device; it does not change your billing status.
After you cancel: the status typically changes to an expiration message, and you usually keep access until the end of the current billing period. If you don’t see a Cancel button, it’s already canceled.
How to cancel your App Store subscription (iPhone / iPad)
- Open Settings
- Tap your name (Apple Account)
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select Pacer
- Tap Cancel Subscription (scroll if needed)
If you don’t see “Cancel Subscription” and you see an expiration message instead, it’s already canceled.
Alternative: cancel from the App Store app
You can also manage subscriptions from the App Store (profile icon → Subscriptions). Apple confirms subscriptions can be viewed/changed/canceled there too.
If you already canceled but it still says “Active”
This usually happens because:
- You’re still inside the current billing period (access continues until it ends).
- You’re checking a different Apple ID than the one that subscribed (common if you have multiple Apple Accounts / Family Sharing).
To verify charges and which Apple ID paid:
- Review your Apple purchase history and subscription list under the same Apple Account.
If you were charged unexpectedly (refunds)
Apple handles refunds for App Store subscriptions. You can request one at Apple’s “Report a Problem” site:
- Sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com
- Choose Request a refund
- Select the subscription charge and submit
Key takeaway
- Uninstalling Pacer won’t cancel App Store billing.
- To stop renewal, you must cancel the subscription in Apple’s Subscriptions settings.
