Pacer’s League system is designed to keep you active and engaged by tracking your steps and ranking you on a league leaderboard. Because leagues encourage consistent activity, there is no way to pause your league progress without leaving the leaderboard entirely. Unlike a challenge or workout that you can pause and resume later, your league level depends on continuous participation.
Why you can’t pause your League
- Fairness for all participants – Leagues reset on a weekly cycle. If users could “pause” their score, it would give them an unfair advantage over others who keep moving.
- Encouraging consistent habits – Leagues are meant to motivate regular activity. Taking a break simply means your step count may drop, but you can always climb back up next cycle.
What happens if you take a break
- Your weekly step total will decrease if you’re not active.
- At the end of the league cycle, you might drop to a lower league or stay where you are if your rank is still high enough.
- When you start moving again, your steps will count toward the next league cycle.
- Use League Protection to stay in
Tips if you need to slow down
- Adjust your personal goal – Lower your daily step goal so you’re not pushing as hard.
- Focus on other features – Pacer offers many ways to stay engaged (e.g., GPS activities, Coach plans, or Friend Streaks) even if you aren’t competing in the league.
- Take advantage of cycle resets – Since leagues reset every week, you can always come back strong after a short break.

FAQs
Can I leave a league and rejoin later?
Yes, you may leave the League at any time. However, if you choose to quit, you will be unable to rejoin until the following week. Upon rejoining, you will be placed in a lower level, as you will not have any scores recorded from the previous week.
Can I hide my league status from friends?
Your League status is visible on your Profile page and cannot be completely hidden from all users. However, you have the ability to manage who can view your Profile, thereby controlling access to your League status.
- By default, your Profile is accessible to all users, which means that everyone on Pacer can view your League status on your Profile page.
- If you prefer to restrict visibility of your League status, you may adjust your Profile visibility setting to "Follower" under Settings > Privacy Settings. This configuration allows only your followers to see your League status on your Profile page. Additionally, other users will need to send a follow request to gain access to your Profile page.
