Pacer’s Points Boost system is designed to keep you motivated and help you climb the League leaderboard. The system includes three kinds of bonuses: Daily Boosts, Weekly Boosts and Go Outside Boosts. All three boost types count toward a weekly 200‑point bonus cap, so plan their use accordingly.
The Go Outside Boost is a daily reward for exercising outdoors. Unlike Daily Boosts (short-term doubling of GPS/treadmill points) or Weekly Boosts (week‑long multipliers for under‑10k step users), Go Outside Boost rewards you for checking in at parks and sharing photos. It encourages fresh air, exploration and community engagement—and it’s available to all users.
Why use Go Outside Boost?
- Outdoor motivation – It gives you extra League points for venturing outside.
- Connect with nature and community – You’ll explore nearby parks and contribute photos that help other Pacers.
- Extra points without long walks – If you’re short on steps, a quick park visit can still add to your weekly total.
- Works with other boosts – You can combine it with Daily or Weekly Boosts, but remember the 200‑point weekly cap.
How Go Outside Boost works
Pacer’s Go Outside Boost is tied to park check‑ins. You earn bonus League points by visiting parks, recording your walk or run, and sharing photos. Here’s how it works:
1. Check in at a park
- Find a park – Use Pacer’s Near Me or Parks and Trails features to locate a park.
- Go to the park – You must physically visit the park; location services must be enabled.
- Open the park page in Pacer and tap Check‑In. Only the first check‑in of the day counts toward League points. You can check in multiple parks, but only the first one earns points.
2. Earn check‑in and photo bonuses
Pacer awards different point bonuses based on your actions at the park :
- Park check‑in: 20 points for successfully checking in (GPS or manual).
- GPS track bonus: +10 points if you record your walk with Pacer’s GPS tracking during your check‑in.
- First photo in this park (ever submitted): 50 points if you are the first person to upload a photo for this park.
- Your first photo in this park: 10 points the first time you upload a photo at this park.
- Add a photo in this park: 5 points for each photo you submit (after your first).
- Park Ranger bonus: 5 points if you become or remain the Park Ranger (typically by being the first to check in on a given day).
These points are added to your League total, but they count toward the weekly 200‑point bonus cap alongside other boost points.
3. Upload photos and become Park Ranger
- First photo in this park (ever) – If no one has posted a photo before, your first picture earns a big 50‑point bonus.
- Your first photo – Even if others have uploaded photos, your first photo still earns 10 points.
- Add more photos – Each additional photo earns 5 points ; it’s a great way to share the scenery.
- Park Ranger – The first person to check in on a given day becomes the Park Ranger and gets 5 points. If you remain Park Ranger during your next check‑in, you’ll continue to receive this bonus.
4. Daily and weekly limits
- One park check‑in per day counts for League points. Additional check‑ins won’t grant extra boost points.
- Weekly 200‑point cap – Bonus points from all boosts (Daily, Weekly, Go Outside and Virtual Adventure) are capped at 200 points per League week. After hitting the cap, you’ll still earn regular points for steps, but no extra boost points until the week resets.
- Daily step cap – You earn 1 point per 100 steps, up to 300 points per day. Boost points are the only way to go beyond that.
Who can use Go Outside Boost?
Everyone can use Go Outside Boost. Unlike Weekly Boosts, which are reserved for users under 10k steps/day, Go Outside Boost has no step-count requirement. Simply find a park, check in and start earning extra points. Premium membership is not required, but a Premium subscription may give you other perks like League Protection.
Combining Go Outside with other boosts
- You can use Go Outside Boost together with a Daily Boost or an active Weekly Boost. For example, if you activate a Daily Boost (which doubles GPS/treadmill points for 30 minutes) and then check in at a park while recording a GPS walk, you’ll earn both the doubling effect and the Go Outside bonuses—subject to the 200‑point weekly cap.
- Go Outside Boost points are added on top of your normal step points and any multipliers from other boosts.
- Plan your boost usage to avoid hitting the weekly bonus limit early; you might want to spread them across different days.
Tips for maximizing Go Outside Boost
- Explore new parks – First photos and first check‑ins give the largest bonuses. Visit parks where few Pacers have been for easy extra points.
- Use GPS tracking – Always record your walk or run; the GPS track bonus is an easy 10 points.
- Take multiple photos – Photos are worth up to 5 points each, and they make park pages richer for everyone.
- Aim to be Park Ranger – Early morning park visits can help you claim (and keep) the Park Ranger bonus.
- Combine strategically – Pair Go Outside Boost with Daily or Weekly Boosts on days when you plan longer outdoor activities to maximize points.
Go Outside Boost vs. Daily & Weekly Boosts
- Duration – Go Outside Boost is tied to a single park check‑in per day; Daily Boost lasts up to 30 minutes and Weekly Boost lasts the entire league week.
- Activation – Go Outside Boost requires visiting a park and checking in; Daily and Weekly Boosts are activated from the Shop (Daily Boost must be used the same day, Weekly Boost runs automatically once unlocked).
- Eligibility – Everyone can use Go Outside Boost; Weekly Boost requires fewer than 10k average steps and may require Premium in higher leagues.
- Effect – Go Outside Boost gives flat bonus points for park check‑ins and photos. Daily Boost doubles points from GPS/treadmill walks for 30 minutes, and Weekly Boost applies a personalized multiplier to all League activity for one week.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get points from multiple park check‑ins in a day?
No. Only the first park check‑in counts toward League points. You can visit multiple parks, but only your first check‑in of the day earns boost points.
Do I need Premium to use Go Outside Boost?
No. Go Outside Boost is available to all Pacer users. Premium is only required for features like League Protection or Weekly Boost in Gold league and above.
Can I combine Go Outside Boost with Daily or Weekly Boosts?
Yes. You can use them together to maximize points, but remember the weekly bonus cap of 200 points from all boosts.
What happens if I upload photos later?
Only photos uploaded during your check‑in session count toward bonus points. Photos added later are great for sharing but won’t add extra points unless they fall under the “Add a photo in this park” category.
How do I find parks to check in?
Use Pacer’s Near Me feature to discover parks and trails nearby, or search for parks in the app. You can filter by distance, amenities or popularity.
By using Go Outside Boost thoughtfully, you’ll not only earn extra League points but also enjoy fresh air, explore local parks and help build the Pacer community. Combine it with Daily and Weekly Boosts to climb the leaderboard faster—and remember to share your photos!
