When you join a Pacer for Teams Organization, you’re asked to set a display name for your organization. This name is intended to help colleagues identify you (organizers often request you use your real name).
There are two different “names” you can edit in Pacer. They affect different audiences, so it’s important to pick the right one.
Understand the two name types
1) Organization Display Name (recommended)
- Where it shows: Only inside your Pacer for Teams Organization (to your colleagues in the same Organization).
- Best for: Using your real name for workplace challenges without changing your public profile.
2) Pacer Profile Nickname (public)
- Where it shows: Your public Pacer profile (visible to other Pacer users depending on your profile/community participation). Pacer’s privacy policy notes that a Pacer profile includes a “display name” by default.
- Best for: If you actually want your public-facing Pacer name changed across the broader Pacer experience.
If you don’t set an Organization Display Name when joining, your Pacer Profile Nickname is typically used as the default for your organization identity.
Option A: Change your Organization Display Name (colleagues-only)
Use this if you joined an Organization and want your workplace name to be correct without changing your public Pacer nickname.
- Open Pacer for Teams (your organization page).
- Tap the ...(More) button and select My Info
- Select Edit Profile
- Edit Name
- Tap Save
Result: Your updated name is shown only to colleagues within the same Organization.
Option B: Change your Pacer Profile Nickname (public)
Use this only if you want your name changed everywhere your Pacer profile appears.
- Launch the Pacer app
- Tap your Profile icon to access the menu
- Tap the Edit icon adjacent to your display name to modify your profile
- Update your Nickname / Display Name
- Tap Save
Important: This name can be visible broadly within Pacer experiences. Pacer’s privacy policy notes that your profile includes a display name by default.
Who can see what?
- In a Pacer for Teams Organization:
- Organization administrators can view certain participant information such as display name and email address.
- Organization members are permitted to view your Organization Display Name.
- In the broader Pacer app/community: Your Pacer profile includes your display name by default.
(Your Organization Display Name is the safest way to match workplace naming conventions without changing your public identity.)
Troubleshooting
“I changed my Organization name but it still shows the old one”
- Pull to refresh / reopen the organization page.
- Log out and back in.
- Wait a few minutes (some views cache profile data).
- Confirm you edited Organization → My Info → Edit Profile → Name (not your public nickname).
“My organizer requires real names”
- Use Option A (Organization Display Name). It’s designed for colleague-only visibility and avoids changing your public nickname.
