When you join a Pacer Virtual Challenge or Virtual Race that includes a physical finisher medal, there are two types of costs you may see:
- Shipping costs (delivery of the medal)
- Import duties / taxes (only in some countries)
This article explains what each cost means, when it applies, and what to expect.
What’s included in the registration cost?
Your registration price includes:
- Access to the digital challenge experience, and
- The physical finisher medal.
Depending on your region, additional tax may apply.
Medal shipping costs (delivery fee)
How shipping costs are calculated
Medal shipping is calculated at checkout based on your delivery address and the items in your order.
When you pay shipping
Shipping fees (if any) are shown before you place your order, during checkout.
Important notes
- You can often choose whether your medal ships immediately or after completion during checkout (depending on the product options).
- Orders may arrive in separate shipments in some cases.
Import duties, VAT/GST, and customs fees (if applicable)
What are import duties / taxes?
Import duty (customs duty) is a tax collected by a country’s customs authorities on goods shipped across borders.
In many countries, you may also be charged VAT/GST on imported goods. (For example, the EU applies VAT on imported goods, and the IOSS system is one way VAT can be collected at checkout for low-value imports.)
Who pays these fees?
If your country charges import duties/taxes, they are usually billed to the recipient by the carrier or local authorities during delivery/customs clearance. Pacer is not responsible for customs/VAT charges billed by the carrier or local authorities.
What kinds of fees might I see?
Depending on your country and the carrier, you may see one or more of:
- Import duty (customs duty)
- VAT/GST (consumption tax)
- A customs clearance / handling fee charged by the carrier
What happens if I don’t pay customs/VAT?
If customs/VAT is due and unpaid, the carrier may:
- Hold the package for payment,
- Return it to the sender, or
- (In some regions) dispose of it according to local carrier/customs rules.
How to avoid surprises (recommended)
- Check your country’s import rules (VAT/GST thresholds and duties differ by region).
- Use a complete and correct shipping address to reduce failed deliveries.
- Watch for carrier messages (SMS/email) asking for customs payment.
FAQ
Do all customers pay import duties?
No. Many customers won’t be charged, but customs/VAT may apply depending on your country’s import rules.
Will Pacer reimburse customs/VAT charges?
No. Customs/VAT (and any carrier clearance fees) are set by local rules and billed by carriers/local authorities—Pacer can’t control or reimburse these charges.
Where can I see my shipping cost before ordering?
Your shipping cost is displayed during checkout because it is calculated at checkout based on your destination and order contents.
