On iPhone, a compatible wearable can share activity with Pacer through Apple Health:
Wearable → companion app → Apple Health → Pacer
For step syncing, the companion app must be able to write Steps to Apple Health. Sharing only workouts, sleep, or heart rate is not enough for Pacer to detect it as a Steps source.
1. Activate Apple Health in Pacer
Go to Settings → Apps & Devices → Other Wearables, or use Other Wearables in Steps Data Source. If Apple Health is not active, follow Connect Pacer to Apple Health first.
Activating Apple Health makes it your primary step data source. Review any confirmation if you are replacing Garmin.
2. Choose your wearable
In Choose Wearables, select your brand. Pacer provides guides for:
- Apple Watch
- Fitbit / Google Health
- Xiaomi / Mi Fitness
- Amazfit / Zepp
- WHOOP
- Oura Ring
- Polar / Polar Flow
- HUAWEI
A checkmark means Pacer identified that brand in its latest recent Steps source check. It does not mean Pacer verified the app's current permissions or source priority. Already-detected brand rows do not reopen setup.
3. If your brand is not listed
Choose Other wearables. Open the app you use with your device, find its Apple Health connection, and enable sharing of Steps. Follow the app's permission prompts.
If an Open app button shows an App Store page, install or update the app if needed, then open it and return to Pacer after completing its setup.
Return to Pacer and confirm that you completed the instructions. Let Pacer check the recent sources.
- If your source is detected, continue to the priority instructions.
- If Pacer asks whether your device is in the list, select Yes only if you recognize the corresponding source. This confirms your selection; it does not change automatic brand recognition.
- If it is not listed, select No, review the troubleshooting steps, and use Retry after making changes.
If the companion app cannot share Steps with Apple Health, this connection method cannot provide its steps to Pacer. Being able to install the app does not guarantee compatibility.
4. Set your preferred Steps source
Follow Pacer's priority instructions to move your preferred wearable source to the top of Apple Health's Steps data sources. See Manage source priorities.
Return to Pacer and confirm completion after making the change. Pacer cannot make or verify the priority change for you.
Why is my device missing, or why are the steps different?
Check the connection in order:
- Wearable to companion app: does the companion app show your recent activity?
- Companion app to Apple Health: has it shared recent Steps, not just another data type?
- Apple Health to Pacer: are Pacer's requested categories enabled?
- Pacer refresh: after the upstream data arrives, return to Pacer and use Sync now.
The Connected Devices list reflects the last successful recent Steps check, not a live connection test. A source may disappear after it stops contributing recent readable steps, or remain visible until the next successful refresh.
Pacer uses Apple Health as the primary source, rather than filtering the daily total to the brand you selected. Source priority, upstream sync timing, and Pacer's existing activity rules can affect the displayed total. Sync now cannot retrieve data that has not reached Apple Health.
Do not delete your Health history or manually add duplicate steps to fix a connection. If recent steps are in Apple Health but still unavailable in Pacer, contact Pacer Support with the app versions and the screen where you are stuck.
