In the updated Pacer iOS connection, Fitbit data reaches Pacer through Apple Health:
Fitbit → Google Health → Apple Health → Pacer
This Fitbit connection does not require Pacer Premium. It replaces Pacer's previous direct Fitbit connection; it is not a sign-in to Fitbit inside Pacer.
Before you begin
Install or update Google Health and sign in to the account you use with your Fitbit. Check that your Fitbit's recent steps appear there before connecting Pacer.
If you opened this guide from the Fitbit migration screen, your existing Pacer history is retained. See Why is migration required? for the migration choices.
1. Connect Google Health to Apple Health
- Open Google Health and tap Connections in the upper-left corner.
- Select Apps and services, then Apple Health under Add connections.
- Tap Get started. Review and accept any connection consent screen if you wish to proceed.
- Follow the authorization prompts, enabling data sharing to Apple Health, including Steps, and tap Allow. Finish any confirmation screen.
If Apple Health is already connected, review the existing connection and its sharing permissions rather than creating another one. Google's official Apple Health guide covers the connection and current requirements.
2. Set up Pacer
- In Pacer, go to Settings → Apps & Devices → Other Wearables, or use Other Wearables in Steps Data Source.
- If needed, activate Apple Health in Pacer.
- Choose Fitbit / Google Health in Choose Wearables. If it is already checked, the latest source check has already identified it.
- Confirm that you completed the setup instructions, then let Pacer search for recent steps.
- Continue when the source is detected. If Pacer asks whether your device appears in the list, choose Yes only when you recognize the corresponding source. If it is missing, choose No and follow the troubleshooting instructions.
During migration, Connect Google Health starts the connection flow directly; you do not need to begin again from Settings.
3. Give Google Health priority for Steps
Follow Manage source priorities, choosing the Google Health source that contains your Fitbit activity. Return to Pacer after saving the order and confirm completion.
Pacer uses Apple Health's step data, not a Fitbit-only filter. Other sources can still contribute, so your Pacer total is not guaranteed to exactly match Google Health. Pacer cannot verify that you changed the priority order.
If Google Health is not detected
Check each part of the connection:
- Your Fitbit's recent steps appear in Google Health.
- Google Health has shared those steps with Apple Health, with permission to write Steps.
- Pacer's requested Apple Health categories are enabled.
- After data arrives in Apple Health, retry in Pacer or use Sync now on Connected Devices.
Pacer looks for recent readable Steps sources, not merely an installed app or completed setup. A successful connection without recent exported steps may not appear in the list yet.
If Open Google Health shows a download page, install the app if needed, then open it and finish its setup. A button tap alone does not connect the two apps.
If your steps are already in Apple Health but Pacer still cannot continue, contact Pacer Support. Include the screen message and app versions, but no account password or verification code.
