Pacer is moving Fitbit syncing on iPhone from its previous direct Fitbit connection to a connection through Google Health and Apple Health.
Pacer's previous direct Fitbit syncing service is scheduled to close on September 30, 2026. To continue bringing your Fitbit activity into Pacer, set up the new connection:
Fitbit → Google Health → Apple Health → Pacer
Google Health can share Fitbit activity with Apple Health. Google's Apple Health connection guide explains that connection. Pacer then reads the activity available in Apple Health.
Why am I seeing this screen?
After updating Pacer, users whose current primary step source is the old Fitbit connection are directed to migration before entering the main app.
You need to choose how Pacer should receive your steps going forward. If Garmin is your current primary source, a historical Fitbit connection alone should not put you into this migration flow.
Will I lose my existing Fitbit history in Pacer?
No. Fitbit history already saved in Pacer is retained when you migrate or choose Phone.
That is different from importing records that were never saved in Pacer. The new connection can only read data made available through Apple Health, so it does not guarantee a full backfill of your Fitbit account history.
Do I need Pacer Premium?
No. The new Fitbit connection through Apple Health does not require Pacer Premium. Garmin's separate Premium connection is unchanged.
How do I keep syncing Fitbit data?
- On the migration screen, tap Connect Google Health.
- If prompted, activate Apple Health in Pacer and complete the requested authorization.
- Follow the Google Health setup instructions and make sure it shares your Fitbit Steps with Apple Health.
- Let Pacer check the recent sources. If the source is missing, use the troubleshooting steps rather than confirming an unrelated device.
- Follow the instructions to prioritize Google Health for Steps, then complete the remaining Pacer prompts to enter the app.
The Fitbit / Google Health connection guide explains the detailed setup. If you return from the connection page before finishing, you can return to the migration entry and choose your path again.
What if I do not want to connect Google Health?
Tap Switch to Phone, then confirm. Pacer will use Phone as your primary step source instead of the old Fitbit connection. Carry your phone when you want it to track your activity.
This does not erase Fitbit history already saved in Pacer. You can set up Apple Health and your wearable later from Settings using the wearable connection guide.
Will Pacer show exactly the same steps as Google Health?
Not necessarily. The new primary source is Apple Health, not a Fitbit-only feed. Source priority, the data that has reached Health, and Pacer's existing activity rules can affect the total. Follow Manage source priorities to prefer Google Health for Steps.
What if I cannot finish migration?
Check whether the missing data is in Google Health, Apple Health, or only Pacer, and follow the corresponding connection guide. You can choose Phone to continue using Pacer without completing the Fitbit connection.
If you remain unable to enter Pacer after confirming a choice, contact Pacer Support with the message shown and your app version. Do not send your Google password, verification codes, or unredacted health records.
